THE 'TREEHOUSE' is something different and special – and has to be appreciated for its individuality.
It is set in almost an acre of mature pine and birch wood, with commanding views of the Cairngorms and Boat of Garten Golf Course.
The lodge is of timber construction and is elevated to maximise the views. It is well insulated and double glazed, with heating in every room.
The local hotel, post office and general store are only a few minutes walk away, yet the lodge is peaceful enough that often the only discernible sound is that of birds singing, or the steam train puffing past.
The heart of the Treehouse is the spacious and comfortable pine clad lounge with log burning fire. It is a place to relax, and enjoy the views through the trees to the stunning scenery beyond. The window seat, at the far end of this room, is ideal for birdwatchers, red squirrel spotters, and steam railway enthusiasts.
There are three cosy bedrooms, and all bedlinen and duvets are provided.
- The double bedroom has a super-king size bed, TV with DVD player, and ample fitted storage.
- The twin room has two single beds, and fitted storage.
- The bunk bedroom has two sets of bunks – one with a single bed, top and bottom,
the other with a single bed on top, and a comfortable futon sofa underneath.
It also has a TV and DVD/CD/Video player.
The large family kitchen has a dining area and is fully equipped with every facility including fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, hob, double oven, microwave. All cutlery, china, glasses and cookware are, of course, provided, as are kitchen towels.
The bathroom has a bath and separate shower. Bathroom hand towel and bathmat provided, but not bath towels.
The large deck, with outdoor furniture, really does make you feel as if you are in a Treehouse.
Downstairs, is a storage/drying room – ideal for coats, skis, sledges, golf clubs, and muddy boots.
Boat of Garten is a charming scenic village with wonderful views over the countryside to the Cairngorm Mountains. It is an ideal setting for a relaxing break, or as a base for all Spey Valley activities –golfing, skiing, walking, climbing, cycling, birdwatching, fishing, riding, tennis, and watersports on Loch Insh and Loch Morlich.
Places of interest in the area include the Strathspey Steam Railway, Kincraig Wildlife Park, Landmark Centre, Highland Folk Museum, Cairngorm Funicular Railway and distilleries on the Whisky Trail.
Aviemore is 5 miles away, Inverness 30 miles. Edinburgh and Glasgow are approximately 2 ½ hours drive away.
